Daan

Daan means donation, or giving anything to somebody with no charge. In Hindu religion Daan includes a great importance. It is believed that Daan can remove many obstacles involving life. It is also believed that whatever we give in this life it helps us in our other lives.

Whenever any bad Dashaa (time) will come in somebody’s life, often Pandit prescribe Daan. Even at many auspicious situations Daan is given, for example at time of birth of a kid; at the time of accomplishing any fast, or Yagya, or special worship; on some festivals (Sankraanti, at the time connected with lunar or solar over shadow etc); or at the time period of death; or while being inside Teerth (holy) spots etc.

It is imperative that each Daan should be provided to Supaatra. Supaatra means whoever is worthy to obtain it. Donation to unworthy people with the particular Daan is throwing away that thing, such as feeding any rich man doesn't have purpose of donating food.
